One for the Road…

Posted in Main Content on December 6th, 2009 by admin

One last First Friday reception…and this is it. It went well…with a good amount of attendees and a handful of sales…There were, of course, many other art events going on simultaneously, but we were quite pleased after all…The weather did not cooperate fully…It was bitterly cold and many folks were not ready to wander the streets in such conditions…3455230114_ff3287e3c1

We were nice and cozy inside ArtHaus66…Friends visited for a long while and a few will come back later in the month to pick up some artwork…

As for us we are looking forward to focusing our efforts in other ventures more suited to the current economic trends…It won’t be a huge shift, really…just kind of a makeover…

Do visit us at www.arthaus66.com There will be many new additions, changes and interesting tidbits to read…The site is easier than ever to navigate and it is constantly being tested and improved…

True Colors

Posted in Main Content on June 29th, 2009 by admin

We have had two exhibits since the last time I had anything to post. We are now half way through the second of these shows. Times of Transformationis the title chosen for a group show that had as its main featured artist the work of Joie Villeneuve. She has shown with us before and this show marks her temporary return to the States from Australia. Beautiful work…very much in line with what we had seen before, although very influenced by her surroundings down under…

The preview evening was a nice event…Apparently, those who did not make it and were supposed to be there for the First Friday never made an appearance…Quite a disappointment for us as well as for the artist…although they get another chance this coming Friday, July 3rd…We hope to see them all there…I would not want then to miss the opportunity to see the work.

As I understand it, these paintings will remain in the States after the show is over. Do not hesitate to give us a call if you are later on interested in any of them.

Self Evident Opening Reception

Posted in Gallery Events, Main Content, Upcoming Events on March 1st, 2009 by admin

Self Evident Reception at ArtHaus66 GalleryIt is a fact: the view is better from a sitting, comfortable position….particularly after a couple of hours of admiring the fabulous artwork displayed in Self Evident.

The Saturday reception took place without a glitch. The guests enjoyed some snacks while they visited with two of our artists, Carol Sanchez and Ali Gallo, who were kindly in attendance. Everyone raved about the work…Carol’s handmade boxes consisting of mezzotints and copper plates, were all sold within the first hour…They are indeed very collectable items…and there are more to come during our First Friday reception…

Ali’s sculptures looked impeccable and perfectly complemented Carol’s prints. The show was extremely coherent and, although succinct, it came together flawlessly…

The biggest surprise of the night were Paige William’s panels…As it often happens with abstract art, they elicited a strong reaction…and I believe that they left quite a lingering impression in some of the guests…In their simplicity, Paige’s paintings are very intriguing and beautiful…We are curious to see how they will be received during First Friday, since the crowd consists of very different people from what we had last night…

All in all, the space looked beautiful with the new additions and changes… It’s coming into its own…

For those in Albuquerque, don’t miss the article on the Abq Arts beautifully written by Jim Belshaw. It offers a preview on our April show and introduces the gallery to those looking for a true contemporary space in Albuquerque. On Wednesday, pick up an Alibi and learn more about ArtHaus66 Contemporary Gallery by checking out the article on local businesses…ArtHaus66 is prominently featured as one of the local places to keep on your radar at all times…and we won’t disagree with that!

Selected Works: Cristina Clarimón, Joie Villeneuve & Represented Artists

I Wish I'd Never Met You by Cristina Clarimon

Selected Works comprises the work of several of our collaborating artists. This is an excellent opportunity to view the work of a group of artists with vast experience and very unique styles. The exhibit as a whole highlights the commitment of the gallery to presenting the Albuquerque public with out of the ordinary artwork at extremely affordable prices…The pieces range in size from the very small ( 6×6 inches) to the larger formats ( 24×30 inches) and almost all techniques are represented, from mixed media pieces to woodcuts and acrylic paintings. For those of you still unfamiliar with ArtHaus66 Gallery, this is really a delightful chance to browse through the exhibit and perhaps even find that special artwork that you’ve been wanting to add to your collection. Furthermore, you could very well find an exceptional Valentine’s gift for your loved one.

Piedra, Papel, Lienzo y Tijeras: Contemporary Spanish Artists II

Posted in Gallery Events, Press Releases, Upcoming Events on October 30th, 2008 by admin

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

ArtHaus66 Gallery

Contact: Craig H. Alinder, Owner

Tel: (505) 830-9653

Email: craig@arthaus66.com

First Friday Reception – December 5, 2008 5:00- 9:00 pm

ArtHaus66 Gallery is proud to present its second annual group show exclusively devoted to contemporary Spanish artists. Piedra, Papel, Lienzo y Tijeras: Contemporary Spanish Artists II, returns to ArtHaus66 with a whole new collection of young artists who exemplify the latest artistic trends in Spain and the rest of Europe.

The seven invited artists who collaborate in this project all work and live in the capital city of Madrid. Though some originally come from other parts of Spain, they share the metropolitan surroundings of this big city. Its influence is obvious in most of the pieces included in the exhibition. Whether in urban landscapes or imagined seascapes nostalgically evoked by the artist, the old world appeal of landlocked Madrid permeates each of the creations.

These contemporary artists feed off the many contrasting trends that are particularly vital to Madrid: tradition and innovation, past and present. Long-standing techniques such as printmaking emerge as vehicles of cutting edge modernity while drawing becomes an exercise in avant-garde restrain.

Andres Delgado is originally from the Canary Islands, Spain. He is an abstract painter who devotes most of his work to the study of landscapes. Having been born on an island, his work is full of references to the ocean.

Juan Pablo Villalpando was born in Madrid, Spain. He has exhibited internationally since 1992. He is a master printer and director of Escuela de Arte No. 10. His work is pure line and an exercise in effortless elegance and simplicity

Susana Murias was also born in Madrid and her work lovingly echoes the interior views of city dwellings. Calligraphy, printmaking and painting merge to generate a nostalgic, personal and sincere body of work.

Maria Calzadilla is a native from Madrid. A young artist with an exceptional style of elegant minimalism. Her work is quiet and pensive. A respite for the eyes and the soul in the bustling metropolis.

Sonia Higuera was born in Santander. Her work is beautifully stark and surprisingly evocative. Black silhouettes of birds in flight furtively traverse the images, leaving behind only a soft, fleeting memory.

Miriam Cantera owns and operates El Mono de la Tinta, a studio and gallery space devoted exclusively to advance the work of contemporary printmakers in Madrid. Her work is emblematic of the resurgence of abstraction in contemporary Spanish printmaking.

Elena Jimenez was born in the coastal city of Alicante, Spain.  She currently lives and works in Madrid. Her current prints echo the earth tones from the Mediterranean landscapes from her childhood. The organic shapes create surfaces of incredible depth and visual interest.

Piedra, Papel, Lienzo y Tijeras: Contemporary Spanish Artists II runs from November 20 to December 31, 2008. The reception, free and open to the public, will take place on Friday, December 5th 2008 from 5 to 9 pm. The gallery is otherwise open by appointment. Three high resolution images are attached to this press release. For more information contact Craig Alinder at (505) 830-9653 or email craig@arthaus66.com
