It’s the Economy, Stupid….

Posted in Artist News, Contemporary Art, Contemporary Printmakers, Main Content, Printmaking, Spanish Artists on February 5th, 2010 by admin

We’ve heard it before…No, not just someone calling us stupid…I mean the fact that the economy is at the very root of all problems during these times of meltdowns, recalls and unemployment. Nobody has been impervious to the recession and art galleries have certainly not been the exception…

Just yesterday, I received a call from a collector who has become a good friend over the past year. She was inquiring about some of the new work that we have just received and we talked about how prices have fluctuated in the recent months. She was delighted with the bargains that we offered though the website and told me that we have allowed her to continue collecting even through these difficult economic times…I was happy to hear that…and grateful to her too…

The reason why our gallery offers such deals on work that would otherwise be sold for a few hundreds of extra dollars, is that we invest on the artist rather than on keeping up with appearances. Our artists collect between 60% and 75% of the retail price. It’s a proven fact that collectors wish to support the artists and that they are both happier with their experience when they don’t get robbed by fancy galleries. Who has the money these days to subsidize a gallery that focuses on extravagant fixtures and swanky furniture? The focus needs to remain with the artist and their ability to continue working…

…and that’s who we are. We make our overhead as a business as low as possible. We keep our quality up and our service even higher. We care about the artist, the artwork and the collector…and all that results in phenomenal affordability.

So don’t just blame the economy for your misfortunes…Look for the bright spots and unprecedented opportunities…ArtHaus66 Contemporary Gallery certainly offers you the chance to start or expand your art collection at values not to be found anywhere else…Enjoy…

…How does your garden grow?

It’s a bit early in the season in these parts, but Spring came shipped by air from a very far away place… A Mechanical Rose emerged from a bundle sent by Javier Albar…A gorgeous, intricate new piece that speaks of his own development as an artist…

There are other images included in this group that merit mention as well…All are masterfully crafted and uniquely Albar…The style and sure hand of this master printer inequivocally shows in his artwork…

Enjoy and do consider that only a few (sometimes as few as 4) of each one are printed…His editions are often quite small and sought after…

One for the Road…

Posted in Main Content on December 6th, 2009 by admin

One last First Friday reception…and this is it. It went well…with a good amount of attendees and a handful of sales…There were, of course, many other art events going on simultaneously, but we were quite pleased after all…The weather did not cooperate fully…It was bitterly cold and many folks were not ready to wander the streets in such conditions…3455230114_ff3287e3c1

We were nice and cozy inside ArtHaus66…Friends visited for a long while and a few will come back later in the month to pick up some artwork…

As for us we are looking forward to focusing our efforts in other ventures more suited to the current economic trends…It won’t be a huge shift, really…just kind of a makeover…

Do visit us at www.arthaus66.com There will be many new additions, changes and interesting tidbits to read…The site is easier than ever to navigate and it is constantly being tested and improved…

Rafael Moneo’s Prado Annex: A New Facet for an Old Diamond.

Posted in Main Content on November 12th, 2009 by admin

Rafael Moneo designed the 2007 extension for the Museo del Prado in Madrid, Spain.

The minimalist facade of brick, glass, and stone is only decorated by an elegant bronze door artwork. The columned side windows draw on the intense geometry of the cloister to form a rectangular temple-like architecture. The interior maintains this relationship with a floorplan derived from the dimensions of the cloister. Light wells and lanterns cut through strategically, through a ceiling with wood striated panels that connect to the museum across the street, a connection which is further strengthened by the landscaping.rafael moneo prado

First Friday Reception
Friday February 6th | 5 – 9 pm

Selected Works: Cristina Clarimón, Joie Villeneuve & Represented Artists

I Wish I'd Never Met You by Cristina Clarimon

Selected Works comprises the work of several of our collaborating artists. This is an excellent opportunity to view the work of a group of artists with vast experience and very unique styles. The exhibit as a whole highlights the commitment of the gallery to presenting the Albuquerque public with out of the ordinary artwork at extremely affordable prices…The pieces range in size from the very small ( 6×6 inches) to the larger formats ( 24×30 inches) and almost all techniques are represented, from mixed media pieces to woodcuts and acrylic paintings. For those of you still unfamiliar with ArtHaus66 Gallery, this is really a delightful chance to browse through the exhibit and perhaps even find that special artwork that you’ve been wanting to add to your collection. Furthermore, you could very well find an exceptional Valentine’s gift for your loved one.
