Selected Works by Gallery Artists

Posted in Gallery Events, Upcoming Events on January 14th, 2009 by admin
Selected Works comprises the work of several of our collaborating artists. This is an excellent opportunity to view the work of a group of artists with vast experience and  very unique styles. The exhibit as a whole highlights the commitment of the gallery to presenting the Albuquerque public with out of the ordinary artwork at extremely affordable prices…The pieces range in size from the very small ( 6×6 inches) to the larger formats ( 24×30 inches) and almost all techniques are represented, from mixed media pieces to woodcuts and acrylic paintings.

For those of you still unfamiliar with ArtHaus66 Gallery, this is really a delightful chance to browse through the exhibit and perhaps even find that special artwork that you’ve been wanting to add to your collection. Furthermore, you could very well find an exceptional Valentine’s gift for your loved one.

Albuquerque First Friday Arts Crawl, January 2, 2009

Piedra, Papel, Lienzo & Tijeras: Contemporary Spanish Artists II

Rock, Paper, Canvas and Scissors: Contemporary Spanish Artists

The seven invited artists who collaborate in this project all work and live in the capital city of Madrid. Though some originally come from other parts of Spain, they share the metropolitan surroundings of this big city. Its influence is obvious in most of the pieces included in the exhibition. Whether in urban landscapes or imagined seascapes nostalgically evoked by the artist, the old world appeal of landlocked Madrid permeates each of the creations.
These contemporary artists feed off the many contrasting trends that are particularly vital to Madrid: tradition and innovation, past and present. Long-standing techniques such as printmaking emerge as vehicles of cutting edge modernity while drawing becomes an exercise in avant-garde restrain.

New Paintings by Laura Cobb

Steel Blue by Laura Cobb

Laura Cobb is an award winning New Mexico painter and clinical social worker. Her large acrylic and mixed media paintings on wood push deep into psychological territory blending creativity, passion and emotion with form, line and color. Her painting is profoundly informed by the five years she lived in a developing country, the tropical rainforest island of Pohnpei, Micronesia. Here Laura painted with rainwater collected from a self installed water catchment system. Recently Laura has lived and worked abroad in Germany and traveled throughout Europe studying both modern and classical art. Laura has shown her provocative paintings at the Albuquerque Museum, the Isla Center for the Arts in Mangialo, Guam and with many private galleries in New Mexico and the Pacific.

Happy Holidays and Happy New Year

Posted in Gallery Events, Main Content on December 15th, 2008 by admin

The ArtHaus66 Gallery Holiday Auction was held concurrently with the opening for the show titled Piedra, Papel, Lienzo y Tijeras: Spanish Contemporary Artists II. The evening took place without a glitch and we were delighted at the many wonderful comments that we received both for the items in the auction and the pieces that were part of the show…All the auction items were priced at a very affordable $15 starting bid and some of our guests were very lucky to take home many beautiful gifts for this holiday season…

We’d like to extend our thanks to Andres Delgado, A Spanish painter from Tenerife who was in attendance during the opening. His gorgeous canvases of abstract landscapes will continue to be available at the gallery through March…Don’t miss the opportunity of visiting ArtHaus66 Gallery to view his work…

Many thanks to Laura Cobb whose kindness and generosity made this show fabulous. Her abstract work is as unique as it is evocative. In a time of uncertainty and dread such as the one we live in, it is my firm believe that Laura’s art affords us an oasis in which to find refuge. Gazing at her paintings is letting yourself be submerged in warm waters. It is blocking the deafening noise of the outside world. Everyone should be able to experience the soothing power of her work right in their homes…It allows you to pause and exhale…Do visit our gallery in the coming weeks to experience her artwork for yourself…

In the meantime, ArtHaus66 Gallery would like to wish everyone peace and happiness for years to come…

Happy Holidays!
